Each individual has a right to see what is contained in their credit report at the various credit bureaus. The lawsuit was filed because TransUnion irresponsibly sold customer information in the form of marketing lists to other businesses. TransUnion denied any wrongdoing, while at the same time, stating that they had stopped the practice as far back as 2001.

******  So is basically offering consumers options that are already available to them in some form or another in return for selling private consumer data to businesses. We say, take what they are offering while it’s free, but don’t let them persuade you into extending any of the options. Every consumer is already entitled to a from all 3 credit bureaus once per calendar year.  If you look at it, the damage is already done. Your private information is already out there and now that got caught, they want to make nice and say they have stopped the practice and will give you some valuable free services in return for privacy.  Looks like, just another case where a big organization got caught and wants to make it all disappear by making the consumer feel like they’re getting the better end.
